A 360 evaluation (sometimes called a 360 review or 360 feedback) can be very beneficial to a company or organization and can also be very beneficial to the individual who is being reviewed as well. There are various reasons why it can be helpful to various parties including the customers, administrative teams, and the individual. The most beneficial reasons why a 360 evaluation can help an individual are as follows:
1. It can help an individual see more clearly at what their positive attributes are in the role of a company. This is important because then they can use those strengths when determining a route or path within a company for which to get a promotion in. If a person has particularly good rapport with customers in a business may influence the individual to specialize in an area in the company that has to do with customer service or talking with customers face to face as opposed to aiming for a promotion in a job that has little or nothing to do with the communication of the customers.
2. It can help the individual identify the negative aspects of their performance so they can work harder to improve on those negative qualities. The first step towards fixing a problem is to properly and accurately identify the problem. With this evaluation system, a person with negative attributes will typically be more open towards taking criticism.
3. A 360 evaluation is generally fairer than a single person reviewing another person. By using this type of evaluation the individual can be reassured that information is not bias or prejudiced by one and only one person in the company, as is actually a compilation of the opinions and evaluations of the people that surround them every day.
